About

Hydro One Networks Inc. ("Hydro One") is Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution service provider. We distribute electricity across Ontario to nearly 1.4 million predominantly rural customers, or approximately 26% of the total number of customers in Ontario.

Our history dates back over 110 years to 1906 when the Ontario Legislature passed the Power Commission Act establishing the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario (HEPC). Since then, we have worked to energize life for people and communities, helping Ontarians live a better and brighter future.

Information (including any personal information) available in REMS is classified as confidential as per Hydro One’s Information Classification Standard (SP 1324). Ontario Hydro (now Hydro One) was empowered under the Power Corporation Act to take easements that did not have to be registered on title in the Land Registry Office. Under the Electricity Act, 1998, these unregistered easements are equally as valid as registered easements which allow Hydro One to construct, operate, access and maintain its facilities on lands it does not own. Registered easements can be found by searching the title of a property while unregistered easements will not appear on a title search and can only be found using Hydro One’s Unregistered Easement Inquiries.

The Glossary Of Terms defines the different attributes for Low Voltage Rights (LVR) unregistered easements and their associated legal descriptions.

Unregistered Easement Inquiries System provides a user with the ability to conduct a search of the unregistered easements held by Hydro One Networks Inc. across the province of Ontario. The system provides:

  • A tabular search by civic address or by keyword, along with a mapping capability to help the user identify their location of interest.
  • The search results are presented as matching easement records, along with the ability to export the results to MS Excel.
  • Reporting tools, GeoViewer and DataViewer that provide a consistent and easy-to-use way of accessing data.

See Support page after you log in for more information about how to conduct an Unregistered Easement search.
